Skills Development Programmes are designed to enhance the skills, employability, and entrepreneurial capabilities of individuals through various training interventions. These programmes can be broadly classified into:

  • Up-skilling/Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Short duration training (32 to 80 hours) often spaced over a month to upgrade existing skills.

  • Short Term Courses: Longer duration (200 to 600 hours, up to 5 months) focusing on women and self-employment based on National Occupational Standards.

  • Entrepreneurial Development Programmes (EDP): Typically around 80 hours training aimed at building entrepreneurship skills.

  • Long Term Training Programmes: Six months to a year, focused on comprehensive skill development for better employment.

Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programmes also exist to motivate and equip youth and marginalized groups with technical and business skills to start and grow micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

In summary, Skills Development Programmes encompass various training models from short upskilling courses to long-term vocational training and entrepreneurship development, aimed at improving employability and fostering self-employment opportunities.
